What to Expect

Adventure Campers leave SAMBICA’s campus Monday morning at 7:30 am and do not return until Friday at 5:30 pm.

The Tygh Valley Adventure program will begin with a stop at the Mount Saint Helen’s museum/visitor center. This will be a great start for the week and will provide time to bond as a group while experiencing the sights and history of Mount Saint Helen’s. The team will then travel to base camp for the evening. Upon arrival at the base camp, everyone will spend time settling in and getting to know the counselors and adventure trip leaders through several “icebreaker” activities.  Facilities may vary, but campers should be prepared for rustic toilets (possibly outhouses) and limited access to showers.

Tygh Valley Adventure campers will spend their days exploring all that Tygh Valley has to offer.  Each activity requires group cooperation, problem solving, mutual trust, developing teamwork and a commitment to community.  Two days will be spent rafting down on one of Oregon’s greatest rivers.  Campers will also spend approximately 8 hours rock climbing and rappelling.   Activities on the rock develop self-confidence, mutual trust and commitment.  At the end of the day, campers will share and learn from the experiences of others.  Evenings will be spent building upon these team strengths and preparing for the following day’s activities.

On the final morning, campers will pack up and head to Multnomah Falls for an adventure hike full of photo opportunities.  This will be a chance to reminisce about the week of excitement. Participants should expect to be challenged mentally, physically and spiritually as they participate in this exciting program!

Camp Policies and Rules

Payment & Cancellations

Payment is due in full by June 1st.  When registering after June 1st payment is due in full at the time of registration. Cancellations up to 4 business days prior to the start date of the camp session will receive a refund for the total amount paid less the $50 non-refundable deposit per child. No refunds are available when canceling within 4 business days prior to each camp start date. No refunds are available for “no-shows". No refunds are available for campers who must leave camp for disciplinary reasons. Transfers may be allowed based on availability for a $25 processing fee.

Camp Store / Spending Money

Adventure campers do not remain on SAMBICA’s campus; therefore they will not have the opportunity to visit our camp store.  Any money deposited into a store account for adventure campers will be cashed out and given to them at Check-In. Campers may wish to have spending money with them to buy snacks at gas stations as they travel to their campsite location.  They may also wish to buy souvenirs in Leavenworth.  Campers will be responsible for the safety and use of their own money.

Health & Medications

Please be sure that all medications, including herbs, vitamins, and minerals, are brought to camp in pharmacy labeled containers.  Please be prepared at Check-In to share updated health information with our Adventure Staff.  Do not send medication labeled for another person.  Medication is NOT to be sent in plastic bags or pill containers.  Medications must be turned in to our Adventure Staff during Check-In.  Our staff will administer medication as needed during the week.  Medications must be picked up at the end of the session following the Parents' Program.

Meals

All meals will be provided, with the exception of breakfast on Monday morning.  Campers may bring non-perishable food items to supplement daily meals.

Camp Picture

Camp pictures are available for a fee of $7.00 and may be purchased prior to camp or during Check-In.  These pictures are of the entire camp group and are taken first thing each Monday morning.  They are handed out on the last day of camp following the Parents' Program.  Additional photos taken during the week will be available for purchase online.

Carpool Information (Photo ID is required for all pick ups)

It is critical for us to know who can pick up your child at the end of the week. We will not allow anyone to pick up your child except for those you have listed on the original registration form, added during Check-In or added by calling our main office at (425) 746-9110. Photo ID is required for all pick ups. Parents who travel while their child is at camp should leave a copy of their itinerary and emergency contact numbers with the camp office.

Visitation

Since Adrenaline Adventure Camp takes place offsite and campers will not stay at SAMBICA during the week, there are no visiting times for family and friends until the final Parents’ Program.

Information Release

No information regarding any camper will be released to any outside agency without the permission of both SAMBICA and the parent/legal guardian of the camper. This includes both verbal communication as well as written records. Interviews, photographs, and video images of campers taken during camp sessions may be used by the camp for publicity purposes unless expressly forbidden in writing by the parent/legal guardian at or before Check-In.
